Duration

4 Days

The Raleigh Falls & Voltzberg 4-Day Rainforest Expedition offers an adventurous journey into one of Suriname’s most remote and remarkable natural environments. Located in the Sipaliwini District, Raleigh Falls and Voltzberg are part of the Central Suriname Nature Reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage Site covering approximately 1.6 million hectares of protected tropical rainforest.

The reserve is renowned for its exceptional biodiversity, providing a habitat for numerous wildlife species, including monkeys, tropical birds, reptiles, and other rainforest animals. Visitors travel along the Coppename River to reach Fungu Island, which serves as a base for exploring the surrounding rainforest, waterfalls, and natural landscapes.

One of the expedition’s main highlights is Voltzberg, a striking granite mountain rising approximately 240 metres above sea level. Reaching its summit involves a challenging hike through dense tropical rainforest, where visitors can observe the region’s diverse flora and fauna. The climb is rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views across the seemingly endless forest canopy.
